Chad Smith Gives Fans a Red Hot Chili Pepper Update
While promoting his latest art exhibit The Art of Chad Smith, longtime drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers sat down with Rolling Stone Magazine to give fans a little tidbit of news regarding the band.
As quoted in Rolling Stone:
"I was given strict orders for this interview: ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT THE BAND,'” he says. “But, yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music.”
That's right, a new Chili Pepper album is on the way. This will be the first album since 2006's Stadium Arcacium that will feature legendary guitarist John Frusciante. The band recently announced via Instagram that Frusciante will be returning to the band after a ten-year hiatus, and current Chili Pepper guitarist Josh Klinghoffer would be leaving.
So far, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are slated to play only festivals this year including Boston Calling in Massachusetts and BottleRock in California(cation).
