Coachella Gets Nostalgic with 2020 Lineup

#coachella #rageagainstthemachine #musicfestival #california

For those of you who don't know, this site started almost a year ago when last year's Coachella lineup was announced in early January 2019. The lineup seemed to completely diminish rock n'roll from it's narrative and hence Rock Is Dead was born. If you would like to read our inaugural post about last year's lineup issues please click here.

But moving on to 2020 ...

2020 Coachella Lineup

The 2020 lineup announcement came late last night and still generated a ton of buzz despite being leaked online a few weeks ago. Headliners include Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean.

1999 Coachella Lineup

Rage Against the Machine will be headlining the festival again after they headlined the first Coachella back in 1999, more than twenty years ago. This won't come as a surprise to rock fans, who already had an idea the band would be back at Coachella when they made their reunion announcement last November.

This year's lineup isn't perfect, but needless to say it's pretty satisfactory. We see some variety amongst genres with lots of representation from both the alternative and pop worlds, along with many crossover artists like YUNGBLUD, Lil Nas X and Rex Orange County.

Hip Hop and R&B fans should also be happy with the likes of 21 Savage, DaBaby, Lil Uzi Vert and Daniel Caesar leading the way.

Finally, rock n' roll fans can't complain too much because things are looking better compared to last year. At the end of the day rock fans are getting a Rage Against the Machine reunion, along with Thom Yorke, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Pup, The Regrettes and like previously mentioned, YUNGBLUD.

Rumours of a My Chemical Romance appearance also spread throughout the internet, but as of last night it doesn't seem likely that they'll be an official Coachella artist this year. It is Coachella though, arguably the most anticipated festival of the year, so fingers crossed both weekends will be jammed packed with good music, food, wacky outfits and many musical surprises.
